Each season, as the predictable cycles of nature hold our bodies, we can assess whether we are in sync with the rhythm of life. Embraced by the stillness of winter let’s turn within and offer for a moment our breath to the seeds we planted in 2017 to allow them to come to life in the New Year. As nature is composting what is dead, we often list what has run its course and no longer serves us our growth and what we desire looking ahead.
Our New Year intentions and seats of “power”
Whether we can sustain our New Year intentions and translate them into reality often depends on how much courage we have underneath the surface in allowing ourselves to be cracked open, lose control, feel and – in the rawness of our ever-collapsing identity – receive. What often is in the way to manifest our intentions are the seats of our greatest control patterns: our mind and our sexual center.
They both pretend to know best, assume that they are infallible, perpetually starve for more of whatever they can get, compete for supremacy and are always on the hunt to conquer a wider territory, whether through war or sophisticated power games. Their favorite is to act in the name of a just cause, a “right”, freedom, liberation, or for the benefit of others. Individually and collectively.
Beyond “Me too”
The wave of “Me too” in 2017 has brought out in the open how deeply these seats of control and its resulting abuses are embedded in the patriarchal pillars of our society. We are not only being challenged to “bring winter” to the hot Bermuda triangle of money, sex and power, and hold those who are responsible accountable. We are also asked to move into “WE TOO” if we have the courage to relinquish and compost the roots of the patterns that have caged us for as long as we can remember.
At the core of the abuses of power affecting both women and men is the ancient suppression of the potent sexual/life force energy deliberately castrated by the mind which -by its nature-is terrified to lose control. The current collapsing structures of our collective body accurately mirror what happens to a body run by seats of control cropped from the public heart. Such a body can ultimately, and logically, only run havoc and self-destruct creating despair and destruction at a massive scale.
Our current mind-centric paradigm and its handling of sexual/life force energy can be compared to a toddler eagerly storming on a barge to set off the 4th of July fireworks for an entire city. There is nothing wrong with the toddler per se, yet he can only light the fire while burning the audience because he is simply not adequate to the task. In the paradigm of the public heart, the toddler relaxes on the parents’ lap while they create the container for the fire to set off effortlessly, in a productive, creative, efficient, honoring way to the enjoyment and wonder of those it serves.
The epidemic suppression of our sexual energy coupled with its disconnection from the heart has led to deep confusion within and across genders. From muddled boundaries and consent, to promiscuous touch and provocation, from blatant violations, child pornography, sex trafficking to rampant violations on the very body that keeps us alive, the planet.
Within the systems of our society, wherever there is a hunger for external power and money, sexual violations are a given. It is heart-logical. No need to be outraged about the mushrooming stories of abuses. It is a gift to the many still in denial about what has run politics across political lines and other power structures for a few thousand years.
What can We do?
How can we upgrade the dated control seats of our minds and sexual centers and fuel our intentions in a life-affirming direction? In the year 2018 what are WE, men and women, going to do in addition to speaking out and standing up? Are we going to move beyond pointing fingers and marching on the streets dressed in pink, red or blue?
Are WE TOO ready to dive into the minefield of our repressed sexual energy and face the fantasies, castrations, judgements, shame, accusations, petty power games, abuses, numbing strategies and terror in our minds and face the carcasses in our bodies?
Are WE TOO ready to move into our heart, feel and fall in love with our bodies, in a new way, discovering the simplicity and enlightening states of physical pleasure?
Are WE TOO ready to celebrate the joy of being alive in our body and let the fire of our passion move us into new levels of creativity and fun-activism and transform the world around us?
Are WE TOO ready to move into the public heart, channel its energy into our lovemaking, connections with others, and offer its ripples of pleasure to the body of our country?
In the elevation of our greatest control centers, in the awareness of our public heart and collective body, we accelerate our passage down the birth canal…
WE TOO have to simply allow ourselves to be cracked open, lose control, feel and – in the rawness of our ever-collapsing identity – receive the power of Life. It is generous, reliable, neutral, and ultimately fiercely loving.
With my warmest NEW YEAR wishes!
